Car Hire and Car Rental in Dublin, Ireland.

Dublin is the heart and soul of Ireland, and the locals make it so. One of the city's most pleasing aspects is the fact that you can take to the sidewalks to learn about it. Some visitors think Dublin is all about pubs, but its extensive history offers hours of fascinating rambling.

The Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, commonly called Christchurch Cathedral, is a great jumping-off point for a tour of the city. Dublinia and the Viking World is a must for any historic tour if the city, and it's just next door to the cathedral.

Trinity College and it's exquisite Book of Kells, is a brief walk from here. In fact, if you want a guided walking tour, you can join a group hosted by a graduate student from Trinity College. Walk down Grafton Street to St. Stephens Green; the street itself isn't very long, but it's the place to see and be seen in Dublin.

Nearby, you'll find the Dail Eireann, the Irish houses of Parliament, the National Musseum, and the National Library. And of course, Dublin Castle is a high point on any tour of the city.

Irish history of a more recent sort is reflected in the General Post Office on O'Connell Street. This avenue is one of the main roads through the city's centre, and it was at the post office that Padraig Pearce read the proclamation of the Irish Republic, launching the Easter Rising of 1916. This event remains for many Irish a potent reminder of Irish nationalism and Irish independence.

Ireland's rich heritage of literature and music are captured in the Dublin Literary tour and a visit to the Rock and Stroll museum.

Historic city planning arrangements keep pubs off of Grafton Street, but you'll have ample opportunity to experience the lively wit and character of the Irish at the many restaurants and bars in the Temple Bar district. Some visitors find the area a bit seedy during the day, but at night it comes to life.

The four administrative units of Dublin include Dublin City, the city's historical heart; Fingal, with its rolling hills and peaceful seaside towns; the splendid coastline of Dun Laoghaire; and South Dublin County.
